A modern day "Beauty and the Beast" fairy tale. Witty, warm, well-cast, often wickedly funny, sharper & sweeter than expected. However, do not expect anything else as "Beastly" more than lives up to its name with certain campy performances, high-glucose direction (Daniel Barnz), laughable dialogue, cheesy effects and a back-lot simulation of a Manhattan street that wouldn't pass muster on an after-school special. The film, with its contemporary twist on gothic themes, seems designed to appeal to the "Twilight" crowd, except that they have proven a most fickle group to reach. Pettyfer's modern beast, whose internal ugliness becomes externalized when he runs afoul of a spell-casting girl dabbling in witchcraft, turns into the beast & loses his golden locks, suffers disfigurement via scars, pustules & ever-morphing tattoos. The idea of transformation, that people can change and learn from their mistakes, growing to be better, makes "Beastly" sweetly romantic but quietly hopeful.

Rating: 60/100
PS: You should watch this if you r a fan of Alex Pettyfer(Wondering where you have seen him before?? He star in the movie "I AM NUMBER FOUR"),Vanessa Hudgens(You should seen her at The High School Musical) and Mary Kate Olsen(The Olsen Twin Sister)....
