The series' backstory is inspired by The Surgeon. Boston detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) was investigating a serial killer named Charles Hoyt (Michael Massee) some time before the series began. Hoyt, who was banned from medical school for fondling a corpse, used his vast medical knowledge to systematically torture and kill people, usually couples so he could induce the most fear into his victims. Rizzoli is able to find where Hoyt is, and as she is searching for him, she is hit in the back of the head and knocked unconscious. She is pinned to the floor by scalpels, and as Rizzoli is waking up, we see Hoyt preparing to cut Rizzoli's throat. Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), Rizzoli's partner, finds where Rizzoli is and shoots Hoyt before he can slit her throat, saving Rizzoli's life. Rizzoli reasons that, after seeing her so vulnerable, Korsak would never trust her as his partner and decides to apply for a new partner.
The series pilot, "See One. Do One. Teach One", is largely based on the novel The Apprentice. Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) investigate a killer with Hoyt's modus operandi, plus an interest in necrophilia. Rizzoli and Isles discover that the copycat was a soldier named John Stark (Brendan McCarthy) who met Hoyt in medical school, had his identity erased for CIA black operations, and mimicked Hoyt's MO in a killing spree during said operations. Meanwhile, Hoyt escapes from prison and rejoins his apprentice. Later Rizzoli's home is broken into and she was told by who she thought was part of BBT that her neighbours had been killed, she rushes into the van to see the bodies but finds Hoyt instead. Hoyt and his apprentice knock Rizzoli out and kidnap her. When she wakes up they attempt to kill her, but she manages to disarm them by tasing them and impaling Hoyt in the eye with a flare. In self-defense, she shoots the apprentice to death and when Hoyt reaches for Rizzoli's gun, she shoots him through the hands, giving him injuries similar to the ones he gave her.
New twists are introduced when Rizzoli and Isles discover that a recent murder victim is actually Isles's previously-unknown half-brother, resulting in her discovery that her father is notorious criminal Patrick Doyle.
Hoyt returns eighteen months later through another apprentice, Lola (Scottie Thompson), in "I'm Your Boogie Man". Having murdered Lola's abusive husband two years earlier, Hoyt uses her Stockholm syndrome to his advantage, and uses her to stalk Rizzoli. Lola seduces and captures Frankie Rizzoli (Jordan Bridges) before tying Jane up. She plans to kidnap Jane until Hoyt can escape from prison, but Rizzoli manages to distract Lola long enough for Frankie to kill Lola with her own revolver.
Hoyt returns again when he arranges for another inmate to be stabbed while he is dying of cancer, luring Jane into the prison so that he can taunt her about another unsolved murder he committed. Although Jane manages to find the bodies of his victims- the family of an old college professor of Hoyt's who was unaware of his expulsion-, Hoyt, aided by a third apprentice, manages to capture Jane and Maura, only for Jane to beat Hoyt and then shoot him when he and his apprentice tried to kill Maura.

Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Walking Dead tells the story of a small group of survivors living in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.^[11] Most of the story takes place in the Atlanta metropolitan area, and then the surrounding countryside of Northern Georgia, as the survivors search for a safe haven away from the shuffling hordes of predatory "walkers" (as the zombies are referred to in the show) who devour any living thing they catch, and whose bite is infectious to humans. The plot is focused primarily on the dilemmas the group faces as they struggle to balance their humanity with their survival against the zombie horde, and later, how they cope with members being killed and deal with other human survivors they encounter, many of whom are dangerous and predatory themselves.
The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a sheriff's deputy^[1] before the zombie outbreak. At every turn they are faced with the horror of the dead walking again, the changing dynamic of their group, and hostility from the scattered remains of a struggling human populace who are focused on their own survival now that the structures of society have collapsed.

The series revolves around a blonde vapid aspiring model, Deborah "Deb" Dobkins (played by Brooke D'Orsay), who is killed in a car crash on the way to an audition for The Price Is Right. As her soul enters the gates of Heaven she finds herself being judged by a gatekeeper named Fred (Ben Feldman). He declared her a "zero-zero", she has performed zero good deeds and zero bad acts during her time on earth due to her shallowness. Deb tries to argue this and sees a note on Fred's computer precautioning angels from pressing the "return" key. Deb presses the return key on Fred's keyboard before he can stop her in hopes of going back to Earth. Deb gets her wish, but is brought back to life in the body of a recently deceased lawyer named Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliott), who died protecting her boss, Jay Parker (Josh Stamberg). Jane is the complete opposite of Deb; she is brilliant, hard-working, charitable, and overweight. Deb finds that Jane also works in the same law firm, Harrison-Parker, as Deb's boyfriend Grayson Kent (Jackson Hurst). She immediately tells her best friend Stacy (April Bowlby) of her predicament, and prepares herself to tell Grayson, but Fred appears and stops her. He tells Deb that as punishment for allowing her to press the return button, he is forced to become her guardian angel on Earth and he cannot allow her to tell anybody else that she is Deb in Jane's body. The show is centered on the concept of Deb learning valuable lessons about personal acceptance and inner beauty as she finds out more about her inherited life. This includes now working around the former love of her life as he tries to grieve and move on from Deb's passing, and contending with her professional rival at the firm, Kim Kaswell (Kate Levering).

Sam desperately starts looking for a job and when she applies for one at a massage parlor, she discovers the masseuses who work there are actually prostitutes serving prominent members of society.
At first, Sam refuses the job offer, but after one night when she is unable to pay for gas, she realizes how badly her family needs money. Seeing that she has no other options left, Sam reluctantly accepts the position. Lying to her mother (Cybill Shepherd) and her friends about the real nature of her job, Sam starts bringing in a lot of money and hiding it in her freezer. In addition to the abundant money, Sam soon becomes the most popular masseuse among the clients.

The series follows the lives of five rookie cops from 15 Division who have just graduated from the academy. Training's over, life begins. They must learn not only to deal with their duties as police officers, but also deal with the problems and expectation of their families and friends. They are first responders and they are about to learn that no amount of training prepares you for life. "To serve, protect and..." is usually used in the parade room before shift starts by the cop leading the reunion. It always has a significant meaning in the episode plot or context. The one they use more often though is "to serve, protect and don't screw up". It has been described as Grey's Anatomy in the world of rookie cops

Through the introduction of his friend Danma Ryuji, Onizuka Eikichi, the former legendary bike gang member, visits Meishu Academy to tend to the trees in the garden as a part-time gardener. Learning that Yoshikawa Noboru, a student in teacher Fuyutsuki Azusa’s class is being bullied by Uehara Kyoko and other classmates, Onizuka befriends and saves Yoshikawa. Seeing Onizuka’s unprecedented but visceral, powerful response to problem solving, the school’s president and principal, Sakurai Yoshiko, overrides resistance from her vice principal Uchiyamada Hiroshi and makes Onizuka a teacher. Onizuka goes on to tackle many issues as the teacher in charge of the most problematic class, Class 2-4.
